Not Recent Find but only pics I have in Iraq
Hey all, thought I'd try to get this forum discussion started a little by posting a a few nice pieces I found in Green, Lawrence and Independence counties in Arkansas (NE). I call the first one an Osceola Greenbriar but it's not typically found that far north or west. Any suggestions as to its type? There is a nice paleo uniface, a fishing net weight, a nice long Mehlville, a nice broken tang calf creek and a group of nice artifacts I found on our bottomland property on the Strawberry River after having the land precision leveled. I found all in that photo within a week's time, among others.
Mike, just a suggestion, maybe provide a category for identification help.
Thanks,

NE Arkansas? I was born in Jonesboro Arkansas. I'm going back for a visit this summer. I have been there only 1 time in 50 years.
Two years ago, I visited Bay and took photos of the old cotton farm we worked.

do you mean a [b]forum for ID help[/b\]? Like "What is this?" or "Can you ID this?" I thought about that, and can certainly do that, but I don't want to put too many forums. It's hard enough to get people to show up in one place. That can be posted in the Open discussion forum for now, and if we get too many requests, I can move them all to a special forum. First we need the "need".
By the way... I'm curious how you did the image uploads. They appear to be attachments but aren't show inside the "Attachments" area like this attachment test Do you recall how you uploaded these? I'm just trying to figure out why yours looks different than mine.

Mike, somehow I missed this post. Is there a button I can push to see new posts to items I posted to? Just curious. I am from Strawberry, but went to school at ASU in Jonesboro. Lived there about 10 years. Most of my friends are from there. I lived in Paragould for 5 years but now I moved closer to my hometown. Gets me closer to my fields so I can hunt more. I haven't hunted much in Craighead County but have hunted quite a bit in Greene County. You know a few years back the fossilized skeletal remains of a Mastadon was discovered in Bay Ditch. It is on display in the Arkansas State University Museum. Proof positive that there are Paleo sites in that area. Make sure to check it out this summer.
The artifact identification idea is just as you described. Just a place for members to post if they need help with identification of artifacts or have questions about how to identify artifacts. I agree, without the demand, it's not necessary although I think you already created the forum.
I used the the paper clip attach button at the top of the screen. Still trying to figure out all the buttons. I see that there is an insert image button as well. Maybe I should have used that. I think my photos when clicked go to a Javascript screen. After you asked this question, I read an earlier post by you that asks that we use the photo album and upload from there. I will start doing this.
Sorry I missed this post. Hope you have fun in NE Arkansas this summer. If I was there I'd take you to a couple of my hunting areas.
Thanks,
Tim
